Eye Candy

Last fall, the September issue of Departures magazine arrived during a spate of sunless days. For days it had felt like winter in Berlin - damp, cool, cloudy - a clear departure from the sparking blue-sky days of late summer. I felt a rush of energy as I saw the issue on my kitchen counter.

I dropped my bags and stood at the counter with my coat on, flipping to the title article about Mass MoCA's Sol LeWit exhibit. "Who is this Sol LeWit", I thought, "and why do I not know who this man is?"

Sol LeWit (1928-2007) is best known for his minimalist and conceptualist work. His wall drawings captivate me, and I am so impressed by the exhibit produced by the
Mass MoCA. Over six months, sixty-five artists and art students drafted and painted 88 of Sol LeWit's wall drawings which will be on exhibit until 2033. Have a look and see for yourself! The time-elapse videos are fantastic.

The colors of the exhibit are so vibrant, viewing the wall drawings is like a vacation in my mind.
